anybody really know how similar the ASM G series protein skimmers are to the Euro-Reef's, considering they are supposed to be clones. do i drop the money on the Euro or save it on the ASM?ASM GEuro-Reef's

The concept is the same, and most people say they both work good, but the quality on the ER's is much higher than ASM's. Thus, a higher price. Personally, I have an ASM because it's 1/3 the price for the same design, function and pump. The ER uses much higher quality acrylic and has a few design differences, like the way the cup is removed, etc. Everyone I've talked to says they work almost the same. Just expect lower quality acrylic from ASM compared to ER.

They have exactly the same Sedra pumps with needle wheel impellars.

Its a brand that has been in germany for about twenty five years. I checked out some this week and they are awesome but pricey. Go to www.seame.com to check them out. They use eheim pumps as recirculating and you need to use a feed pump.

Why are you selling?

I have a G-2 also and it is working great..

I would agree with the quality issue, but it is a lot cheeper and works from what I have read and observed very well... I am very happy with mine...

Take a close look at the tank size ratings for the skimmers. For a given size and pump, the ASM is 'rated' for a much bigger tank than the comparable ER. Obviously, they should perform about the same. Either Euroreef understates the capacity of their skimmers, ASM overstates theirs, or a little of both.

Yes, both ASM and ER use the exact same pumps/impellers. They actually used to be one company, and they split and kept the same concepts.
