this thing was finee till this am now its out 1/3 of its body- and may come even more- i touched and it went in but came out quickly- is it being irratated? help

Could you descibe coming out more.....the feather looking part or its actual body?

From what I understand, Feather dusters will retract if they feel threatened. The are even known to eject/release the "feathers" into the water if really aggitated. They will then grow back in a short period of time.

no i can see 6/8 of its body/worm lookin- and it keeps coming out- would it go for some live rock hole- not losing the feathers

Don't know....you have reached the end of my very limtied knowlege of feather dusters.

Hi,

It is very stressed. Generally, they do this in response to poor water conditions. They need full strength salinity (36ppt) and reasonably warm water (82F) to do best. Swings in pH will also cause this. Additionally, they also need a lot of food - phytoplankton additions at least once a day is a good idea.

well heres the thing - i have another feather- & its doin great- i do feed phyto along w/ cyclop eeze and essentials- i will check the salinity- but the temp is good- ph i will check- thanks for the inputs
