I have a 550 gallon salt reef aquarium with sump. Major nitrate problem. Have Nature-Reef attached to it but it doesn't cycle properly. Cannot get manufacturer to return my fish guy's calls to correct problem..so is there any sponge, additive, etc I could use to help control nitrates?

Sorry, there is no magic bullet.

The only way you can control nitrates is by having a good biological filter and/or mechanical denitrator and a nutrient import/export balance protocol.

Additives in the form of fresh seawater (or mixed) in large amounts will do wonders. Of course, you have to remove some of the water to put all that new additive in. ;)
