Hey, I am getting ready to set up a 50g FOWLR (I am learning the lingo!). Is a hang-on refugium a good option to include? I'm not sure if I am ready to go full-out with a sump yet. I will also have a protein skimmer of course. Any feedback appreciated!
Thanks...Martin.

Don't know about hang-ons but I think that a refugium is a great idea. It particularly helps with nitrates if you keep macros in it. I just took a ten gallon aquarium and but a sump and refugium for under my 55g FOWLR tank. I hung my CPR BakPak off it too. Just waiting for my macro to arrive :)
Cheers!

I have the CPR 24" model on my 90gal. I'm growing Cheato {Does not go Sexual} in there and some LR rubble for pods to breed around. I just made a light using two LOA 75watt bulbs and a 20" strip light hood which I gutted out and drilled two holes on top for the light to fit into. It works great. Here is some pictures;)

Thanks for the pics. Does it matter how large the refugium is?

The bigger the better IMO. I got the biggest and wish they made one bigger then the one I have:)
