Well after two e-mails and two phone calls I finally got a response from ESV. They called and left a message this morning. The message didn't contain any of the information requested, but was more of a courtesy call.

At any rate, I called them one more time and actually got a hold of a salesperson. Service was good. No discounts. But I am happy with the order none the less.

Now all I have to do is wait for 350lb of ESV to show up at my doorstep. Then it is off to the races on the new DSB.

I think everything is fine, just not the easiest for me to get in contact with them. Once on the phone with them I was pleased with the friendliness and help that the salesperson gave me.

Now I just have to wait for 7 pails of the white stuff to show up.

Yep, the carrier isn't going to be too happy:D :D :D . At least I don't have to worry about them getting squished or thrown too far. The other plus is that since it is delivered to my doorstep all I have to do is lug it down the stairs.

I think any company that sells sand should have a freight option. More than likely I would have bough another 200lb if they did freight. That would really bring the actual cost per pound down.

Best deal I ever got on sand was 250lb of southdown and a custom hood for my bowfront delivered for $350. I figure the sand was almost as good of a deals as all the fortunate who can drive down to HD and pick it up.

Another plus is the buckets that it comes in are great to have . I have found in this hobby that you can never have enough buckets:D Were you going to rinse your sand before putting it in? I didnt . I dont know if it mattered but it took about a week and a half to clear up for me. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, the stuff arrived yesterday. They come in mini pails. I was expecting 5g buckets half full. Instead they are in 2.5g buckets full. The sand looks great, the Southdown sand really isn't as good IME. I threw some in the empty tank, so that I could use one of the pails and check out the dirt that cost me $.80/lb after shipping.

I am not going to wrinse the sand. It is going into a tank that will have a full 1-2 month cycle prior to adding anything other than the LR. So clouding is not too much of an issue. I would much rather keep the silt for the best in dsb composition.

Now all I need is a good deal on a 250g pail of salt:D :D :D

No good deals on salt, had to pay LFS $69 for it. I put 300lb of sand in, which added up to about a 5.5" dsb. I still have a bucket left if it settles too much. We want a minimum depth DSB for the tank, a 180g oceanic.

Here is what I think thus far. This sand is great! Clouding was very minimal. I could have been arranging lr in the tank and still seen what I was doing. If I run the closed loop wide open it does kick up sand.

Buckets are actually about 3.5-4g as near as I can guess. Very handy size to have around. Lids on them require He Man to remove and I don't think I will be using them for future projects because of that.

Overall I am very pleased with the ESV sand. I am glad that I went this route instead of Southdown. Just didn't want any doubt about the setup this time.

I will post some pictures of the tank fill and tank a couple days after to display my findings in the next few days.

It was almost a week after adding my sand to be able to see that well in the tank. Looks good.

Yeah, I am very pleased with the results. I was affraid it would Southdown on me and I would have a duststorm to watch for a week. This is even with about 2000gph on closed loop:eek1:
