The instruction says that put it where there are high flows. However, it does not tell how long we can leave it in there for. Is there any harm done for leaving for too long?

Yes leaving it in to long is bad. Like any filter media like carbon or floss once the material is saturated it no longer can remove what is designed to filter and can leech back into the tank.
FWIW I change mine ever 2 to 3 weeks.

Mikep,

Thanks! That is all I needed to know!

wish I would have saw this earlier, but phosban has been known to not leach back phosphate back into the system despite its saturation. I just installed a phosban reactor and did a ton of reasearch on phosban. Some of the other brands of phosphate remover are known to have leaching problems. Honestly 2-3 weeks seems a little to often for removal, unless you have extremely high levels. This is just what I've read and concluded based on information obtained here, so like everything else here take it with a grain of salt! Word you whale speaker.

pick uf phoban reactor sir. SDR209 just did. I think marine depot has it for $34.99 with a 150g phoban container. I have been using it for 6 months now, and i havent had a algea brake up yet.

I think it is good for a couple of months actually. It says it won't leach back any phosphates even when saturated!

Weird... I checked my pho reading yesterday and it is <.03ppm.

Sorry... still trying to find out what is feeding the *yuck* red stuff in my tank. I will take a look at the phoban rector.

Anybody has comment or input on a phoban reactor? Does it work? Any pros & cons here?

I leave a bag for phoban in my canister filter for about 2months before i replace it. SDR209 is currently using a phoban reactor he picked up at marine depot. I think he's getting good results. 6month and going. phosphate 0ppm.

How do you put phosban in the HOT magnum Canister filter? It comes with a media basket but it looks like the holes are to large?

phosban comes with a little pouch you put it in. Mine floated in the filter so I weighed it down with 2 pieces of live rock rubble.
