I just receive a black epizoanthid from Garf. It is beautiful. The only problem is I cannot find any information on this animal. I like to keep a notebook with all the information for not only myself, but also my kids. Anyone know where i can find info?

Not a lot of help in them, but it does give some care as well as scientific names.

Epizoanthids are symbiotic with other species but may be able to live on their own in tanks....some are zooxanthellate, some aren't. ID's are tenuous, and with a black one, I'm not sure what it might be. Photo possible?

I got one a while back from GARF as well. green poyps?
although my apsymbiotic gorgonians (swiftia and diodorgea ?sp) are growing, this one just melted away and slowly died.
My first thought would be try feeding it cyclopeeze and have a good pod population in your tank.

here's a pic of mine before its demise (behind the swifita):
