thanks for the info! i feel really relieved i looked in the tank at night and all the torches tenticles are out and extended :) which i guessing is a good thing. THe candy cane i got has only two heads on it (got it for 5 bucks) what are the chances of it surviving?

The chances are good as long as you meet their requirements. They are not hard corals to keep.

Don't count the candy canes out... EVER! I have a 4 headed one in my tank that I thought for sure was dead (my first coral and my calcium & alk were too low). Now all is good parameter wise and I'm seeing the Candy Cane come back (even saw tentcles on it last night).

I am so happy!

k well im starting to think that i have a frogspawn instead of a torch.... would there be any difference of feeding it.. o and dhoch i just got another stalk of candy cane from the store i work at but its only one stalk and the head is all white.... im hopin it will com back... and how should i go about feeding it should i do it at night or during the day and should i just put hte brine or mysis in the tank (dont curently have any mysis) but ihave brine eggs or should i spot feed. Sorry bout all the questions just tryin to make it a good home ;)

I've only seen my candy canes feeder tentecles (sp?) out at night.

I also have a short tenticle plate coral and it's also extendes feeders at night.

So I have been starting to feed cyclopeeze in the evening (a couple hours after lights out) to these as well as my torch (which seems to extend at all times of the day & night).

k well im pretty sure 90% sure its a frogspawn just because the tenticles like split into different ones on the head of the tenticles...i has a good amount of green but i think it might be kinda bleached...

cyclopeeze is good for the smallercorals as well as the larger i've used the frozen mysis also as my torch is about 5 to 6 inches.my first candy was a single stalk about an inch to 2 inch. it had totaly shrunk and thought ti was dead. but it still had a little color to it and it came around now is big and plump also have a multiple stalk around the size of a duckpin ball. i see the tentacles in the morning after the lights first come on. does your new stalk have any color on it?

nope just white... but thats the one i got for free the one i bought has purple a green with no white... looks a little skinny though if you know what im saying.. O and the coral is a frogspawn... Well since i didnt have any of those foods i decide to try feeder guppies (thier like 1/2 of a inch probally smaller)... Frogspawn gobbled it right up.. do i have to feed everyhead or just a couple?

i have this food at work that starts with a D i think but its sand mites...will anything benefit from this. Will the candycane beable to consume it and the frogspawn?

lfs isn't going to give you anything for free. i wouldn't count on that one coming back to life. can't hurt to leave it in the tank though. not sure about that food.

Brandon, the candy cane's tenticles only come out at night, they are clear and maybe 1/2 inch long and come out of the edge between the two different colors.

That's too bad, Brandon. Your sister's friend probably didn't understand how critical it was to follow directions. Maybe you can join a local reef club and have someone experienced look in on your tank the next time you go on vacation.
