We at Hudson Valley Reef Keepers have a 12yo and a 16yo that want to join our club.

Question is has your club dealt with this yet and how was it handled? Is there an age limit?
thanks
J

As far as I know, we have not had this come up. We do not have an age limit, but the verbage used at some of our meetings should make us have one if the need every arises.

If they can best any one of us in man-to-man combat, they're in.

All of our members must go thru and extensive hazing...similiar to the movie OLD SCHOOL, so if the kiddies are up to it they are more than welcome to come....

YOUR MY BOY BLUE !!

We have had a few young guys ask about the meetings. They are all welcome we just tell them they need to have a parent with them.

But yes sometimes my mouth and others can be a PG rated....

I have a question for both clubs, hudson valley and capital, why do you both have to be so far away...how come there are no clubs in my area...I live in the mohawk valley..I would start a club for us but I only know about 3 people in the area that are into reefs and one of them is myself..any suggestions or perhaps do any of you know anyone in this area..

I don't know where Mohawk Valley is, but there's another club in the Rochester area.

To start your own club for the mohawk area, I would first come up with a name. Then ask Greenman who he contacted here on RC to set one up. Remember Dave started this club by himself....

I live in herkimer, which is in the mohawk valley..herkimer is exit 30 off the thruway..starting a club would be awesome, but I just dont want to be the only person in it..not too much fun if you ask me...I noticed that there were like 5 clubs in NY state alone, and we dont even have an ocean near us..I think its ironic..its always nice to meet new people with the same interests..I will definitly email dave..thanks..

Pete lives in VT and drives over an hour to our meetings. Why cant you? :) Herkimer isn't much more than an hour away, right?

to albany from herkimer is an hour and a half, and I dont even know where you have the meets at so theres some more drive time..the traveling isnt the problem, I would just like to be able to meet new people and exchange thoughts about reef keeping..dont get me wrong I would love to make it to one of your meets but I would just feel out of place being an out of towner..

Trust us, you would not be out of place. We all felt that way the first time we meet. And as for location, the next meeting this Thursday is about 5 minnutes from exit 24. Si if you can make it , that's great. If you can't don't worry about. We still have this borad. And you can join this group via this format.

He's north of Albany, so wouldn't exit 2W be better? And since he's at exit 30, it is probably a good idea to point out that the exit 24 you're referring to is the first exit after the Northway turns into 87 in Albany when going south, not the exit 24 that is probably an hour north of Albany. :)

I hooked it up it works great ...But the returns I have are 2 3/4in and the seaswirl is only a 1/2 so im looking to trade it for a 3/4 in swirl...
