when to start a Kalk drip

O.K. I'm new to this and I understand to add it to make up water,but I have a two questions.
1. When do you start dripping kalkwasser?Once the live rock is cycled or right from the start?
2. where to buy pickeling lime?Local stores don't carry it.What brand,does it matter?
I'm trying to get all the small details ironed out before I venture into this long awaited project of reef keeping.

Do a search here on Mrs. Wages pickiling lime. They have a web sight to buy...very cheap. Deliver it right to your door step.
