View Full Version : Floating the idea of selling my 125 gallon tank :(

So I'm moving into a smaller apartment September 1st, and I made the mistake of letting my landlord know I had a fish tank. I suppose I'm too honest. Anyway, after I told her how big it was she basically said "no way". I would like to keep everything, of course, but that looks pretty much impossible at this point.

The tank is acrylic, reef ready with two corner overflows. Some scratches but overall not too bad. The stand is, hmm, I'm not really sure what wood it is. If you look at the link in my sig you can see that it looks nice. I also have a 3 month old wave2k center unit that works fine.

Inhabitants that I have to part with are:
Cirrhilabrus lineatus
Cirrhilabrus laboutei
2 Paracheilinus filamentosus
Acanthurus lineatus (this may have a home already)
6 Chromis viridis
2 Cleaner shrimp

If you would like either the tank, stand, wave2k, or any of the livestock let me know via PM. Make an offer. I'm keeping all the other equipment and liverock, etc.

Almost forgot...I'll be out of town until July 31st, so any pickup will have to wait until at least then. Sorry.

I'm interested in your fairy wrasses. Have you had them long?

wombat2

Sorry about that guys...my PM box now has space.

Taco, I've had both fairy wrasses since the beginning of April. Added them both at the same time.

Forgot to add, pics of the two Cirrhilabrus and the tank can be seen at http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=48280

It looks like all livestock besides the chromis will be sold at this point.

I'm back in town (Davis) If anyone would like to come get their fish, I'm available pretty much this whole weekend and after...

Right now the wave2k, cleaner shrimp, nanocube, and 2 fairy wrasses are sold.

I still have a pair of assessors (one of the three appears to be AWOL), a pair of neon gobies, a pair of orchid dottybacks, and 6 chromis for sale.

I've also decided to sell all my liverock along with my 40 gallon acrylic tank. The LR is 150 pounds of rock from www.harboraquatics.com. I should warn anyone interested that it has a few Aiptasia on it, but nothing that peppermints couldn't take care of. It has a lot of coralline and many encrusting sponges. Pictures of it are available on the above link.

MATT what do you want for the 40g acrylic?? and do you have pics/size on it?

wombat2
07/31/2004, 04:31 PM
The 40 is the standard size, 36 x 18 x 15" tall IIRC. No pics of it. It's an unlit refugium right now, and it's never had light above it--therefore no scratches from removing coralline. I don't have any pics of it, sorry :( I'd be willing to part with it for $50...

thx wombat2!

both wrassessessess'es's made it to town just fine! of course they both gave us pre-known heart attacks as they were 'playing dead' or sleeping/cacooning. even though i nkew they were gonna do that, it still scares you to see 2 wrasse lying at the bottom of the bucket, ha ha!

i left hector w/ his who was swimming around acclimating to temperature in a little hang-on aclimator thingy, and just got done 2-hour drip acclimating mine.

popped him into the tank, he found a rock to nestle in, got bothered by a cleaner shrimp, and took off to the back of the tank. can't wait to see him tomorrow!

hey, could u forward me that article you were talking about? i sent u a pm, but your box is full.

ty!

Wombat: What do you have left? Is the 125 still around and how much? I realy need a smaller tank for a sump but that would be a nice spare.

Whodah,
Good news! The lineatus will probably hide for a couple days, but then should be out pretty much all the time. That laboutei was a little less shy when I added him.

I think I still have a copy of the article, I'll just PM it to you.

Wizard,
I still have the 125 acrylic tank and stand, 40 gal acrylic tank, and an odd shaped acrylic tank I used as a sump (dimensions 30 x 15 x 12" high, around 25 gallons?). For the 125 I figure $250 is a good price? Let me know what you think.

wombat2

Almost forgot I still have all my live rock, around 150 pounds. I think $2 a pound is a good price. It does have a few bleached Aiptasias on it, just to warn you (tank was a FO).

I tried to look at the pic's on the 125 but found none, I would like to see it. Can you email a picture? (mailto:keith@keitht.com) I thought Bamm Bamm took the 40G?

WizardOne

I would like to take a bunch of the Live Rock. How long can you hold it? My new tank is not setup yet. I can setup a tub or something if I have to. Is the price for the 125G with stand? And what do you mean "a few scratches"?

hey WizardOne! yer the first person i've seen w/ location 'placerville'! :) used to live there off that last exit before you leave town going north. gparents live off of 'greenland' or 'grantland' or something like that a bit south of the city.

at any rate, just wanted to say: it was a nice looking tank! (wombat2's i mean)

The 125 looked really good. It has a dark blue (cobalt background) and dual overflows. It appeared to be a 72x18x20.

Matt, Did you see my post above?

wombat2
08/17/2004, 08:19 PM
Ah, sorry Wizard I didn't! Um, I don't have those pics anymore. If you're logged in at reefs.org the pics will be visible. Try logging in and if it still doesn't work I will email you somehow.

There is one large scratch on the right side, about 3-4" long. I don't know if it can be buffed out. The rest are just minor ones here and there that aren't too bad. Whodah and Tacocat thought so too I guess.

I have the LR currently sitting in a tub on campus at work, without any light over it. The sooner you could get it the better.

I was asking $250 for the tank (keep in mind that includes all the plumbing for overflows, sump returns, etc. , which ended up costing around $200! Ball valves are expensive!) and $150 for the stand. I think these are reasonable prices, but let me know what you think. I'm willing to negotiate.

wombat2

Times that I will be not working in the next week or so...
Until 9 at night Thursday
Until 9 at night Saturday
All day Sunday
All day Monday...

any of these work for you?

Arlan, nope, sorry. Why what's up?

Was thinking of swinging by to say hi and see if you wanted a ride to the meeting Friday night. Thought I might take a look at what you had left too. Our tanks are almost complete and I need a couple of small to mid size pieces of LR to add some finishing touches to the aquascaping.
