Moonlight Question

I just installed 2 IceCap moonlights in my PFO hood.

Should my moonlights come on right after my actinics go off at night and stay on till the actinics come on the next day?

That's fine if the moonlight is just for you to have illumination after your main lights go out, but that is not natural moon light like would be seen on a reef. The moon is not out every night on the reef as it goes through it's phases. It goes from full on bright during a full moon, to several nights of pitch black. A controller is the only wat to achieve natural moonlight.

Yeah, but if you are going that route, daylight is not full and vibrant every day either, what with storms and clouds and such...

I have an intermatic digital timer that I can pick certain days for the moonlights to be on or off. I know its not a controller but will that do the trick for right now?

Do you think its better to pick certain days for the moonlights to be on veruses having them on every night (7 days a week)?
