Hey,
I am now trying to decide between a wave2k and an oceansmotions to add circulation to my 90. What would be very useful is some info on long-term (more than a few months) reliability. For $200, it's a better deal that anything requiring an external pump, but not if it gums up and fails in a few months.

I haven't heard of any problems as far as "gumming up", people were having belt breakage issues. I, however, love mine and have had no problems. A WAVE2K is not really comparible to an OceansMotions as far as water movement. I would compare a WAVE2K to Tunze streams or their new wave maker. An Oceansmotions would be better compared to SCWDS, SeaSwirls, or some other random switching device. On my 120 I have the WAVE2K center unit on the back of the tank, and my return pump running through 2 SCWDs, I have some hellacious water movement.

How long have you had your wave2k?

I have had one going in 2 different tanks(46g&135g) I never had a problem with it at all, other than the original setup as it can be tricky and takes alittle time to get it right, but when setup it has a nice flow. I would also like to say that it is better for tanks that are around 20" front to back. My 135g(36x36x24) is just to deep to get a great amount of flow in the front of tank, but that is why I also set up a closed loop and am contiplating selling the wave2k and adding another closed loop. But on the product, it is great and you cant find nicer people to deal with.

Does it look funny sitting in the tank? Does it really stand out drastically?

Not really, the back of my tanks are black and so is it. It pretty much blends in against a black background.

I stacked my LR around it so that it is not even noticeable. I left openings where the outlets are and that gives plenty of flow.

Hmm. For a while, when I only had one response, it was easy. NOw I have to think a bit more.

How noisy is the belt?

It's not noisy at all. I can't hear mine at all over the hood fan or skimmer.
