Hey all.....I'm in New Hampshire and was wondering if there is anyone else in the area who knows of a good LFS and LRS nearby. Going into Boston or the surrounding areas is not a problem. We have a huge store in Salem N.H. called SeaWorld that has a great selection but they can be a bit pricey.(liverock 7.99-14.99 per pound!) Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I live in Northern MA so I have been to most places worth going around here and in Southeren NH as well. I agree Sea World is a bit pricy, but I once got a Frogspawn frag from them. One branch for $18 I think. But thier equip prices are obscene. $600 for a skimmer w/o pump I don't care if it an HSA type or not, it's just too much. There is a place in Nashua, NH called Inland Reef Aquatics. They have a website, www.inlandreef.com They are not open on mondays if I remember right I have bought some stuff from them before, I got a beautiful yellow tang, he was in great shape for $14. There is also a place called Little shop of pets in Portsmouth. This place is pretty good as well. Prices vary depending on who you ask, stay away from the young kid who works there,(You'll know who he is) he tried to tell me the tank raised Paracanthuras hepatus were $79, then the guy who runs the place told me $15 about 20 min later. They have had a large selection of corals every time I have gone in there. Nothing ever looks like it just in bad shape. The last few times I have been in there they seem to be having an epidemic of planaria. Nothing seems worse for wear but try to keep you eye out. I still go there whenever I am in Portsmouth, and I still make a trip to Portsmouth just to go there. For places in MA The selection isn't as nice. In Framingham there is a place called Tropic Isle, it's ok. Large selection but some overcrowding in my opinion. I would just say that you should know what you are talking about when you go there, don't let them talk you into something and insist that they do not use the nets and squeeze your fish with thier hands when they bag him, stay away from the Russian guy. I go in there whenever I am in Framingham, they have a decent selection of corals but certainly not more than any of the other stores I have named. If you go here be sure to stop in at Kelley's roast beef wich is attached to the Giant Jordan's furniture. I helped to setup a 1000 gal reef in there, it's worth seeing if you like reefs and it is like .5 mile from Tropic Isle. I have heard of a place on the south shor called Fintastic I think, but I have never been there. There is a place called PJ's pet centre in Saugus on RT 1, I might go there if I needed something and couldn't wait. They have alot of fresh water stuff but they are limited in thier marine background. There is another Kelley's roast beef a few miles north on Rt1 from PJ's. There is a 900 gallon system there, again worth seeing. Make sure you get a look at the filtration system housed inthier own glass doored closets at both kelley's. There are several Petco places around, stay away from them. There is a place in Everett that advertises in the magazines called, Exotic Marine fish Wholesalers, don't go, it's not worth the trip, no matter what thier ads say. There are a few different breeders around here. Gibbons aquaria propogates and sells alot of different species of corals, they all are good, I get stuff from them, these are the guys that do the Kelley's tanks. They have a website too. www.gibbonsaquaria.com . Also, I have seen on this board that a guy named Greg Hiller propogates and sells corals too, I think he is in Woburn or Waltham, I haven't dealt with him yet, but everything I hear is good. I think he posts here, at least I used to, I haven't been here (RC) in a while. Let me know if you want more info or if you need pumping Xenia...lol I can't get rid of it fast enough. cmrehder@yahoo.com
