i'm going to be doing a pretty large water change
and the vessel i used to mixup the new saltwater
had a thick layer of old kalk in the bottom. i've
been aerating it for about two days now, so the
water in the vessel looks milky white. Is it going to
be ok to add to the aquarium? i'm assuming it is, am
i correct?

i've posted this in the general forum, but
then i remembered that this forum existed! i'm
thinking that the kalk has precipitated out since it's
'old' and with the addition of the aeration, adding
CO2--?, the active part of the kalk is neutralized??
leaving jus water with alot of inactive calcium in it?
Am i even close?:)
Many thanks!!

It is probably calcium carboante, and not a concern, but if it was still calcium hydroxide, that could be a problem.

Can you measure the pH of the water?

i don't have any kits readily available, i will see what i
can do about maybe getting one to see what it
measures. thanks for the caution
