i would like to know the easiest way to light a 20 gallon high aquarium. This will be my first reef tank and i want to keep mushrooms and low light corals just to start, then maybe in a few years move into metal halides, but for now i just want something easy, cheap, and yet something that will allow me to keep a fewq soft corals or mushroom corals. Any help would be great.. thanks.

My first reef tank was also a 20H. I had 2x65W Compact fluorescents. It worked pretty well as I could keep softies and anemones. After that I moved to a 10g tank with a 175w MH and I like that much better as I could keep anything.

This (http://www.hellolights.com/242xcoraqpch1.html) is the set I had, though I was able to get it for a little bit cheaper.

A couple of 55 or 65w pc would probably work just fine if all you’re wanting is softies

Check out Hellolights.com (http://www.hellolights.com).

My first tank had the Coralife Aqualight 2X65W fixture. It worked out very nicely for a first tank (20G reg.) and I was even able to keep some SPS like montipora and p. damicornus. They even retained nice color and had good growth. Now the Aqualights come with moonlights built in.

Orbit PC hoods with built in moonlights are gaining popularity as well.
