Which side is supposed to be on the inside of the tank, the soft or the textured?

Watch your fingers around those things too! The first day I had mine I was looking at it outside the tank and the two halves snapped shut and pinched just a tiny bit of skin on my finger... popped it open real good (my finger).
Then I saw the warning on the back of the package.:mad2:

I've been using the soft side inside the tank, and its scratching the inside

Try to make sure no sand gets in between the float and the glass....that can scratch it...

You probably have a small piece of sand on the inside pad or something abrasive on it.

The "velcro" side goes in the tank.It is abrasive on algea but not enough to scratch...it also provides a space buffer for sand to get caught in it and not touch the glass.
