I've read somewhere that you're supposed to do that, but does anyone actually do it? Is chewing through shrimp shells and scraping LR enough?

OK, no I have not trimmed my puffer teeth. You can see his teeth in my gallery. I have an 12" stars and stripe puffer and I asked the same question.

My advise will be, as long as he can still eat, and his teeth are not over grown, feed him shelly foods a couple times a week. Mine loves loves loves crab legs, also shrimp w/ shells on, clams, mussles, some feed live crawfish, snails,... get the picture.

Puffers and bunnys will starve to death if they dont keep their teeth trimmed.

this one is on trimming their teeth.

But I would very muc express trying to feed him shelly foods first. Trimming their teeth is very very stressful. I have heard that some dont recover very well.

Thanks for the replies! Yuck, my puffer's teeth aren't nearly that bad! I think I'll do like you guys said and get some crunchy food for my puffer.
