John,
Aren't those chillers fantastic? I've got one suspended from my basement ceiling blowing down on my 150 Rubbermaid sump. Came with three speeds no less! Drops the water temperature by 3 degrees! I had one minor problem where my dosing pump couldn't keep up with the evaporation rate once the chiller was installed, but I replaced it with a Mag 3 and everything is running perfectly now!

Fans certainly are great for keeping our tanks cool during the summer heat. Plugging them into a temperature controller can reduce the temperature swings by automatically turning them on/off when needed. Since installing mine, I am able to maintain a temp consistently between 79 and 81 degrees. As a bonus, there is less evaporation due to the fans not running constantly.

Bob,
What's the make/model of your temperature controller, and where did you get it? Is the temperature probe in the ambient air or in the water?
Thanks in advance,
Bob D.

Mine is a Ranco single stage controller. I bought it used from someone on RC. The temp probe is in the water. Currently I have two fans connected, one in the canopy and another over my sump in the stand. This site has more info. http://www.automatedaquariums.com/ranco.htm#anchor327324

Bpb,
Thanks for the link. Considering my current evaporation rate, I'll probably have to go for it...
