I accidently discovered what this thing is. All i needed was some cheap clear tube for my barbed ends for my overflow, but i got these instead.
spend 20 bucks on 10ft + some other items.

I came to realize that taking the time to mess with pvc angles is worth the cost since its more than 1/2 as cheap.

im going to try to return it and look for the clear stuff.

why do you guys use this anyways?
i only see it beneficial if you have ALOT of bends.

there's less friction loss than fittings, it will never droop
or kink, it should be glued like reg. pvc (no clamps),
doesn't allow algae to grow inside (there's that
friction loss again). it cuts down on vibration from
your pump vs. hard plumbing, to name just a few. :)

For starters, the clear tubing gets full of algal growth as light enters it, and over time this growth restricts flow.

Think of it this way.
Your overflow box can drain, let's just say, 700 gph.
Your return pump puts in, let's just say, 600 gph.
As the algae builds up in the clear hose the flow is restricted, slowly but surely down to, let's just say, 599 gph...and more.
You come home one day and you have a flood.

Hmm I thought about it and I'll be running on FO, so no crazy lighting.
Also its for an overflow so I'm not concerned about vibrating.

I do have a mak4 pump I think could use it though.
