Are you interested in a group order?:D

Yes!

I'll need at least 200lbs. Depending on the price, maybe 400 or 500. I'm going to put a 5-6" bed in a 180.

I need about 400 lbs :D Are you ordering aragonite? Where from? What would the price be for an order this large?

Ordering from Carribsea. Reefcentral sponsor. $25/bag includes shipping. You can use paypal (easiest) or money order. Will be shipped to my house. You can pick up here.

Hi George, forgive me if I missed something, but what size are the $25 bags? Also, which of the CaribSea product are you going to buy?

Thanks,
Brian

30 lb bags and it is the fine grade. Anything else price goes up.

$25 a bag sounds kind of high.

I think we can get the 40lb bags of Pure Carribean Aragonite for less than $25 each. If I remember correctly there was a group buy for sand when I first found this board and they got it for $15 each for a 40lb bag.

i went to the local home depot here and asked if they could order some and they looked at me like there was no such thing.
i guess they only deal with a certain distributer in this area and it is not the one that caries the sand

Hey Brandon, I think it's mostly on the east coast.

Brandon, you should ask DrMillhouse about doing a group buy of SD from Home Depot. He could definitely give you an earful.

I agree, $25 sounds really high for a 30 lb bag  I think that it might actually be cheaper at reaf N pond. Try checking the prices of other suppliers to see if there's a better price out there.

It better not be! That is where I first bought my sand. And $25 was pretty fair after you calculate shipping for something that heavy. By the way wifesaysImnuts, there is also another person who got screwed out of $600 when ordering sand. I got my sand I would have liked a little more, but...:wavehand: I am trying to get everyone a good deal. If you disagree try not to make a guy feel like crap! Tell me where these good deals are. If you don't want in then get it from wherever. Sorry guys.

Hey George, tried to come up with something to lighten it up a bit but I am failing miserably tonight. Sorry.

I think that this company is selling aragonit (I just emailed them to find out). If we get an order up to 2000 lbs then we can get it for $ .399 a pound (includes shipping) instead of the $ .833 a pound in your deal :) With the interest in this thread I think that it's very likely that we could actually get to 2000 lbs.

I don't mean to be a downer, sorry if I came across that way. It's just that I've seen it at most LFS around here for about the same price. I guess I thought if a few of us pooled our money we could do better.

Malcom I will let you run with this. I am sorry everyone. I have to decline the offer, I don't like putting substitutes (ie;southdown, concrete and the likes) into my tank. Maybe my math was wrong, I have been wrong before. I thought Ithiswas a good deal, less than $200/pallet of Carribsea sand and substrate. I wanted to make sure I had shipping covered, I didn't want to get stuck having to foot the bill like the last guy.:(

I would like to apoligize to those who have been following this thread. I felt like it was being hijacked. Second WifesaysImnuts, I was wrong with the info I gave you, I bought pure carribbean aragonite at Reef n pond not carribsea. It was $25 for 50lbs. This deal I am getting is for 30lbs bags and the reason it is $25/ bag is to cover shipping. Shipping is $175/ pallet up to 2500lbs. I don't know what that works out to but it is a fair deal considering there were only 4 of us who seemed truly interested. Once again I apoligize. If you are still interested in the carribsea let me know. Malcolm if you are going to put together this other deal plz let us know as well. Thank you everyone.

That's what I was emailing them about :) I don't like putting artificial anything into my tank either. They haven't responded to my email yet, so I searched there website again and found another one. I just sent yet ANOTHER email to them to find out if this stuff is really artificial or not.
