Gang,

Rather than email to everyone, I decided to put the directions and map here:

http://www.northalabamareefclub.org/Meetings/directions.html

Let's meet around 11:00

Thanks,

Have we decided what to do about food and stuff for the meeting?

Do we want to eat lunch or just have snacks?

Let me know what ya'll want to do and who can bring what.

Thanks,
speakeraddict

Speakeraddict,
Either way is fine with me. Regardless, I'll plan to bring a couple of two liter cokes and some ice. Let me know whether we're doing snacks and finger foods or "lunch" and I'll bring a dish of something.
Looking forward to it!

I can bring anything. Well, ok, maybe not steak & lobster, but I'll be happy to bring buns, chips, pizza, hamburger meat, cokes, beer. Tomoko will probably insist on the beer. j/k :)

Just let me know. Lunch food sounds good to me, if its an 11:00 meeting.

OK, Why don't we grill burgers and dogs.

I have a gas grill. I will make baked beans and have some hot dogs here.

Yoda if you and someone else can bring some hamburger, we will need buns of both types and chips.

I will pick up some paper plates and plastic utensils too.

If anyone wants to bring anything else, sound off here so we can plan for it.

Also, I brought a hand-held TDS meter. If anyone wants to get a ballpark idea of how pure their water source is, just bring some water samples and we can check em out. I would think that the people using tap water, or the storebought reverse osmosis water would be especially interested to see what they are getting.

I have not calibrated the meter, so it might be off a slight amount. Still, it should give a ballpark reading (as an example, my tap water reads around 110 ppm, and it reads 2 to 3 ppm after going through my RO/DI cartridges.)

That would really be interesting to test the walmart water I use. I still have a slight cyano problem.

I couldn't wait Speaker. I found what I wanted at Office Depot. From what I later learned it probably wouldn't have worked anyhow. Thanx anyway.

You can bring anything you want to work on. Keep in mind, I don't have room to store any projects so you will either have to stay and finish it or take it home and finish it.

BTW, one of my kids ruined my multi-meter. Can someone bring one to the meeting?

Mary Ruth says we're bringing: tomatoes, lettuce, onion, sliced cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup. I'm also lobbying to get sliced dill pickles added to that list. Stay tuned for further updates!

One thing I am going to demo at the meeting is ODNO - overdriving NO fluorescent tubes.

I am currently running 3 NO 18" tubes on my 10 gallon nano. I am going to switch to two ODNO and see the difference. It will use the same ballast as I am currently using a WH5 and should give me about 20% more light than the three tubes are.

It will be interesting in any case to see the results.

I have a couple of utility lights you could use to show how it is done. In my preliminary testing with a photography light meter, I got about a 70% increase in light output. I took about 20 minutes to rewire and mount the two balasts in one fixture. fixtures cost $7.29 each. Got 8 with free shipping for $60.

Cool.

Do you want me to get one from you Friday when I come over to pick up the livestock?
