I've had my 29 gallon for over a year now and about 2-3 months into having the tank I bought a blue tang not knowing that a 29 is WAY to small for it (the sad thing is the LFS i got it at knew I had a 29). He was about a inch long at the time but now he's aproaching 4".

I think he has just, in the last 3-4 days, got an ich like infection. The reason I say "ich like" is because not only are there little white spots but also a few black spots. The first day he got it I tryed a 3 1/2 min fresh water dip and haven't seen any improvements in his condition. He is very active still and eating well. I haven't seen any signs of him rubbing on any rocks.

All my water params are 0, temp between 79-82, ph 8.1.

Anyways to get to the point, I've basicly concluded that he needs a bigger home to be happy and stress free, I think it will solve his problem as well. I hate to give him up :( but it's for the better.

I anyone is able to take him it would be great, he'll need to be in a hospital tank for a while but he'll be fine, I'm sure (like I said he has only been like this for a couple of days). I would like to trade him for something, a small coral, or I don't know anything. But if no one has anything to trade He'll go for free.

just post here or PM me.

I posted a pic I have of him from about 3-4 weeks ago

Nice looking fish. When was the last time you added a new fish or coral?

Just started adding coral about 1 month ago. first was GSP and Xenia, then a week after that frogspawn.

Just an update...

He seems to be getting better, less spots. One side of him looks almost spot free now. Hopefully it will all go away. He is still for trade if anyone is interested.

I think 60 would be big enough, anyone else know for sure?

According to Scott Michael's PocektExpert Marine Fishes Guide, Pacific Blue Tang requires a minimum of 100 Gal tank.

ok, there you have it. someone with at least 100+ gallons needs to take this fish. Who wants it? I'll trade for anything, even snails or hermits.

I've got a 180, and could give you a dragon wrasse, or a green frog spawn frag, I have some rock I'm trying to get rid of too. Or you can bring him over and shop my tanks. Let me know if any of this interests you.

The lil guy, as my wife calls her "Dory" is doing just fine. I put her in the main 180 and my purple tang harrassed her for about 10 - 20 minutes and then it was all over, everyone gets along like gangbusters. Thank you and hope the frogspawn does well for you, take care and thanks again.

Thats great! I'm glad she's doing good! The frog spawn is doing great! It loves the metal halides and is already showing new growth!
