I think i remember reading somewhere on this site that there is a coral that is often called GSP but actually arnt? Does anyone know what im talking about? If so, which kind do i have? Why asre the "tentacles" so long? Is it because of the flow?

there are actually several different species of corals that go under the common name GSP, i believe they are pachyclavularia, briareum, and sometimes even tubipora. i could be wrong but judging from the size of the calyces in the photo, i would guess you have pachyclavularia.

I'm not going to try to ID yours, but what pyrrhus said is right. A number of different genus/species are known as GSP's.
Lovely coral, BTW :)

The genus Pachyclavularia is now considered to be Briareum.

Do you recall how that was determined Eric? Genetically?

Examination of sclerites, and phylogenetically. The update came from Phil Alderslade in Soft Corals and Sea Fans.
