signs of copper?

I have read that copper is hard to detect even with a test kit. How can you tell or what are the signs of copper leaching into your system? Example copper from a Rio powerhead? What will it do to corals? Thx

Inverts like snails, shrimp, crabs, amphipods, etc. would likely die. I do not know how rapidly one might detect the issue in a coral. Pulled in polyps would likely be a first sign, but I am not sure.
