RO/DI water question

I just purchased a RO/DI unit and have yet to hook it up. Last night , while I was paging through a Dr Foster & Smith catalog I found additives that you're supposed to add to the RO/DI water before adding the sea salt. Is this correct? Do I NEED these supplements? I was under the assumption that the salt would return eveything that was needed. Please help before I start up the RO unit.

As long as you are using a good quality salt, it will have everything in it you need. I use Instant Ocean. I have not read the article on DR. F&S but perhaps they are talking about freshwater tanks in which case I think additives would be needed for most fish.

You don't need to add anything to your water. Make the RO/DI, add salt and let it mix overnight.
