regal/hippo tang

iam thinking of buying a hippo tang and need some advice about the apperance of some hippo tangs. i notice that some hippos have a faded belly then some others. is this a defect with the fish or is this common?. will the fish color up as it grows or will it always look this way? is this a some sort of parasite? thanks for any help.

Indian Ocean hippos, especially from Africa, have a slightly different coloration - their bellies are somewhat lighter or yellow in color. Ask your LFS where it might hail from and if it is the type I described before you purchase one. It could also be a fading hippo with a health problem. I am really sold on Hippos from the Solomon Islands - no lighter bellies and are hardy and keep their beautiful blue color.
