devils hand leather looking funny

i picked up a leather coral about 10 days ago and it looking a little funny at some of the tip ends,water params are good except my calcium is low,will that affect it? also what do they like high flow area? lots of lite? on the sand or up high on the rocks?

I keep my leathers middle height in the tank and under moderate flow. If you are using phosphate removing products...dont!!! These corals are sensitive to aluminum hydroxide.
