Nice sharp photos! What kind of camera did you use?

thanks!! canon 10d w/ a macro lense. I did touch them up in Photoshop, but only to remove the little pieces of debris...

As dank11 would say: Hey! I know that stuff. BTW- those are the orange Zoanthids I'm looking for, although the frags I got from fujimo Bob are much brighter.

I should have included this in this original post that this is not my tank. I took some pictures at a LFS here in Rochester and these are a couple of the shots. I personally have a 20 gallon and can only dream of having some of those zoos!!

it is. :) In my original post regarding the supposed octopuss I did say that I took the pics at the reef shop here in Rochester...the whole night has been nuts and I spaced the info on the picture post here...should have given credit where it's due!

I can only hope to have a tank someday as beautiful as Tom's!

I have been getting pretty heavy into digital photography and I asked Tom if I could hang out and take some pictures during a weekday. Ended up dropping 2 hours there last week and I got about 70 shots that I feel real confident about...I'm hopefull that when he gets their web site up and running, I can do some work for him...

Right now I'm a Unix admin and I enjoy photography about 10x more than what I am currently doing. There's a lot of starving photographers out there though, so I won't be giving up my day job, but this kind of detail work just puts a big smile on my face!! :) :)

So the truth comes out about the Blue Ring Octo/Xenia shot- you knew exactly what you were doing!
How about a shot of your 20?

truth be known, the new camera is only 2 1/2 weeks old and I've taken over 1300 pictures all ready :eek2: but many were junk. The irony is that most of the shots I took of my tank were crappy! The time I spent at the Reef shop was some of the best work I've done so far with my semi-pro stuff. The feedback I'm getting from friends and family (along with Tom and Rob) is all good, so I guess I work better under the gun!

I'll take some shots tomorrow when everyone wakes up in my tank and update this post...everything is asleep right now....

I was in panic mode over the blue octo!!!!

Joe:

Based on those shots, consider yourself completely redeemed. Great work.

well, I was going to setup a 10 gallon Walmart special frag tank soon....guess I'm committed now!!!!!

Maybe if I have some good stuff to trade, in a couple of years this incident will somewhat forgotten!!!

Are you kidding? Oh that's right, you're new to this group. ;)
I still get razzed over my tang eating the tip off my finger (yeah, still holding it up for you to see Allen... ;) ). That was... 3 years ago?

LOL! Sorry bud, but we had a guy try that here once before too (I smell a fish , anyone?), we're too sharp for that to work. Might as well take your lumps, and ask if anyone's got some free-frags to mount next to your new Limited Edition Octoxenia spp. ;)
Nice Pics BTW, Depth of field is impressive (have to tell me how to hit that DMax too!).
