LS shipped from Vendor - How do I cycle it?

I will order LS from Florida and have it shipped, which will take four or five days. How do I handle it once I receive it?

Also - I live on the Arabian (Persian) Gulf. There may be an opportunity to collect LS at some point. Is it as simple as just scooping sand from the bottom and only layering 1 cm at a time? Will adding 1 cm to theexistin sand bed footprint (158 cm x 47 cm) cause a cycle?

I would suggest you order only sand, then collect some LS from your local area and add a centimeter or so. That should be enough to get you started.

Hi S-G,

Get your sand locally, if you can find an area free of pollution. It will be far better than any sand you can import. Do a search of this forum, and use "collecting live sand" as your search key words. You should get several hits describing the process. If there is not much time between collection and putting it in a tank, yes - it is "as simple as scooping sand from the bottom and layeriing 1 cm at a time."
