Dr Ron,

If I seed a brand new sand bed (1 day old) - what will the creatures eat?

Do I need to feed it?

BTW - initially there would be no fish.

I would want the bed to become established.

Hi,

If it has live sand it will need to be fed. Feed it lightly with normal fish food. Add a small amount and see what happens to it. If there still is food visible in 20 minutes, don't add any more for a few days. If it vanishes pretty rapidly, feed again in a day or so.

If the bed doesn't have live sand, you really don't need to feed it at all.
