OK, what is a GSM?

Thanx Mrs. FN, there are about 300 +/- a few. So hard to count. With all the toys I have, documenting their growth is gonna be the easy part...keeping 'em alive is where I am a major rookie.

Freed- GSM = Gold Stripe Maroon

The first shot is available light, the second is flash.

Hi Vert, boy, me to , I have my first eggs but will let they go, there is so much involved in raising the food for them tank quality etc, not sure I have the time to do it all.
Will be anxious to see how you do as you go along.
Hope you can post info on the rotifer cultures and how you keep it going etc.
Would love to see how you do it all.
Very best of luck to you

Karen-
I have been following your thread about the eggs, I know you are excited (as I am with mine). I think I suggested using a terracotta saucer (under pot type) as your removable egg laying surface. If you choose to go that route, let me know and I will send you one of my egg holders when you are ready to try your hand at this.

There is a thread with pictures of the thing...I have made some mods to it and it seems to be doing better at aerating the egg mass.
Here is the thread (http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=373262)

I got my starter rotifer culture from Sachs Systems (http://www.aquaculturestore.com/)
Paul Sachs is a great guy with lots of info on rotifers, culturing, and maintaining them.

I let the first two nests go, and am trying to raise the third...not sure I gave it enough time to get the cultures of rotifers up to speed, these guys are eating me out of house and home.

Enjoy this exciting time, and have fun with it whatever you do.

Hi Vert, thanks so much, I would love to have one at the ready for use. I will be trying my hand at raising some on the third or fourth spawn. I have to get the rotifers going and know what I am doing with them first.
I purchases 3 -6" pot saucers today and are ready with them. Will replace the rock with one when the larvae let go of the rock, will be any day now as have there eyes and are just attached by a tiny string now,
Let me know what I owe you for it and will do paypal if you like.
Thanks again
karen

Nice shots.

Thanx CW !

Karen- I use the 4" saucers just cause they don't take up so much room in the main tank where the breeding pair is. The holder should handle both, I will try it with a 6" saucer and make sure.
I will get to work on yours this weekend and try to get it shipped out Tuesday or so. That way you can play with it in your hatching tank.

Morning again Vert, I just turned the lights on in the rose tank, all of the fry are hatched and gone off the rock, so sad, I hate things dying. But will try to be ready for the next bunch or maybe two if I can.
Still havnt learned about the food and how to grow it as yet, but have to get on that.
Thanks again.

Karen, I would not replace the rock as you may throw the pair. It would be better to get a removable tile the size of the rock and lay it over the nest site.

Hi atticus, what I have done is placed the saucer around back of the nest to see if maybe they will use it instead. Next time I will boot the anemones out of the way if I can and place the saucer in front of the rock. They cant get to the rock then, and are fully accustomed to seeing the saucer in the tank now, it will just be moved forward about 3 inches. I was hoping that it will work but will see. Thanks for the help.
