Let me know what mine should be. I let Goldeneagle test it the other night and it is pretty low. My PH is at 8.3 and alk was at 4 I think.

It should be 8-12 dKH
Here's a conversion chart...

Well is it 4 dKH or 4 meq/L?
4meq/L is good. 4 dKH...not so good.
Whenever my alk is getting lower than I like I notice the morning pH starting to drop. When it starts to drop below 8.0 I test and always need to add alk supplement (baking soda in my case).

Thanks Evil,
That's what I was thinking when I posted the chart, I just didn't type it....

What type of test kit is it. A reading of 4.00 meq/l would correlate to a dKH of 11.2.

I was surprised how easy Seachems kit was to read.

I haven't used Seachem's alk kit, but I find some of their other kits kinda hard to use. Honestly any of the kits that use a range of color are difficult for me to read. I like Salifert personally but that's just because they are easier for me to read being that they are titrations.
4 meq/L is great btw. I would try to maintain it at that level!

Seachem makes good stuff and like the previous statements 4 meq/l is great. Are your Montis still sick?

Anybody have any ideas on test kits for those of us who are color blind?????
Right now it is up to the CEO of the house to confirm what I think I see when I do tests.
Not sure this is the best way to run a tank, especially if I have managed to Pis* her off reciently! LOL
