I have heard some hobbists sat their water out in the sun for 2 weeks. In doing so, this will eliminate the Chlorine. Is this truth 0_0?

From my understanding, it will remove chlorine, yes, but not chloramines, which is what a lot of water treatment facilities use or seem to be switching over to these days. I could be wrong, but I remember reading this in a FW article a while back.

You should really use RO/RO+DI water if possible, as tap water can contain heavy metals and other elements and minerals that can be hazardous in a SW tank.

Oh, it's 2 days? I might be mistaken X_X Sorry.

Awesome thx for the info, Kelli? Umm.... what's the difference between Chlorine and Chloramine? Plz enlight me ^^

Ya, that's a toughie, i tried to apply the same question to one worker in LFS. He can't answer that either.

Very true, I wish i have RO/RO+DI equipment. Since I don't have it, I mix my water with chemical which is sold in my LFS, which removes chlorine and copper.

Chloramine is basically a mix of Chlorine and Amonia and is chemically much more stable, hence, the reason it doesn't dissapate out as easily. It also has to be used in much higher doses than chlorine (about 1ppm) to be as effective. It's becoming more common, though, because unlike chlorine, it isn't nearly as hazardous in its raw state.
