I just bought my first 2 perc clowns the other day. Is there a way I can tell if they are male and female? It'll be just my luck to find I have two females :eek2:

Start by reading this FAQ sticky.

Generally, if one of them is bigger than the other, then that is (or will be) the female.

The best way is to get two small/immature clowns and let them decide who will be femal and who male.

The Female are usally alot larger than the males. If you got them very small in time one will develop into a female and the other a male.

As long as the fish are 3/4" or smaller, the larger shoudl develop into a female and the smaller shoudl develope into a male. I am currently doing the same to my percs. If you see them fighting alot.... dont worry, theyre going to fight alot for a bit. The large one needs to establish dominance to become a female. GL :)

I do see one of them do a lot of head butting. Thought he was just being playful.. Also the lighter colored one seems to have developed a very small white spec of something right above it's left fin. I'm on day 3 now. Should I be worried as of yet?
