i just ordered 2lbs of red gracilaria and was wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to culture it. if anyone out there cultures this algea let me know. by the way its the red gracilaria (Florida species Gracilaria Tikvahiae) very similar to the hawaii one so i was told.

could i get water from my main tank and put it in a rubber made container big enough to hold 2lbs with power heads and a tube light that come with the tanks when purchased or do i need stronger light

It's a very nice macro. I find it along the beach, in the surf, at high tide here in SW florida. My Yellow tang will eat it, but the best thing is the pods that live in it.... i just grab handfuls out of the water and shake it over a bucket and hundreds of pods fall out... not bad!

i had some in my main display and it looked great... then my tang found it. I have some in my fuge that doesn't really grow well.... but i really just collect it for the freebies that come with it :P
