Hope I posted this in the correct forum.

I want to add coral to my tank. The tank has been up a few months now and everything is running smoothly.

I have a 50 gallon tank with...

15 pounds Live Rock
1 Brittle Star
2 Percs
1 Yellow Tailed Damsel
1 Yellow Tang
Crabs & Snails

What coral would be right for a newbie and a new tank?

Any help would be appreciated.

So many options. What kind of lighting and what kind of substrate?
110w-220w of flourescent lighting would be enough for most mushrooms, zoos, leathers, nemenzophyllia, euphyllia,.... Just need to do a little research for corals that like lower lighting.

150w-250w of metal halide would be good for just about anything- provided you can create some shade for the lower light species.
There are many good books out there and tons of internet sites to find out what kind of light certain corals need. Then browse your local stores or get frags from a local club. Once you are sure you know what they need, you can be more likely to have success.
HTH. Good luck.

I noticed your don't have very much live rock. Why? What about buying more rock 1st . 50 gal should have est 75 pounds!

Yeah, I'd get another 40# of rock ... but with fish I'd cycle it elsewhere.

Then, once things are settled, I'd think about Green Star Polyps, button polyps, leathers.
