Can you tell me if this is Aiptasia. I think deep down inside I know it is, but it's hard to admit it.

If this turns out to be Aiptasia, how many peppermint shrimps do you think I should get for my 45 gallon.

Well, from that angle and with that lighting it looks like aptasia, but its hard to tell cause of the angle. Do you not have lights over your tank? dear god man turn those on! Also a better angle would help. :) If that's all the aptasia you have in your tank then I would say 2-3 P.Shrimps should be sufficient.

The rock that these are on is against the side of the glass. They are facing the glass, but there is only 7 inches between the glass and the wall. Unfortunately this is the best angle I have been able to get. In addition the aquarium lighting is of little use because this rock is below other rocks that shade it. In addition, when the lights come on, the little turds go into hiding.

I'll try taking a light off and shinind it right on it as I take a pic.

yeah, dont worry about it. U do have aptasia though, so get some of those P.Shrimps asap or search the boards for an abundance of other solutions.

They look more like some type of zooanthid to me. My aiptasia dont have such a defined (circular) oral disk.

Hell, when Iwas Fish only I NURTURED APTASIA, that's NOT aptasia. There aren't enough radia on the the trunk of the peduncle. Keep an eye on it. If it becomes problematic, get a few peppermints (For gods sake, not camel shrimp).

If you look at them sideways, can you see a long stalk before the head and tentacles? Most of the aiptasia I've seen and experienced have longer and more narrow stalks than polyps do.
