Help with Tank Downsizing

I think that when switch apartments in a couple of months I am going to downsize my tank. Right now I have a 45 and am thinking about moving to a new all glass 26 gallon bowfront. I figured it would also make the move easier if the new tank was already setup for the new place. I want to start now, take my time and make sure everything is done correctly and as best as possible. I was going to purchase a 26 bowfront(still thinking about a 36) and have it drilled to begin with. I also am thinking about making my own stand because I dont think the ones they come with are all that great. I want the tank to be closer to eye level than the accompanying stand puts it. Im still not sure of all the specifics but any suggestions would be welcomed. Also anyone with pics of their 26 or similar sized tank setup would be great. I wanna get a flavor of what everyone has done with setting it up including sumps, fuges, etc.
