The direct BRS forum link is:

http://216.235.242.50/forums/

You can always go to the main website (http://www.bostonreefers.org/) and follow the link to "Forums" in the top navigation menu.

Just a reminder to everyone that you'll have to register on the new forum site...your RC login will not work. You can choose the same screen name you use on RC, but you do have to register again. Sorry for the inconvenience but there really isn't any way around that problem.

so does that mean the brs forum on rc is gonna be slowly phased out?

Other clubs have their own forums and still maintain a club forum on RC and I expect we'll do the same. We needed our own forums to handle BRS business (group buys, committee and organizational communications...), so that is really the primary purpose of our forum system.

If most of the traffic moves over there, so be it. If it doesn't, that is probably ok too. Hopefully using our own forums will help RC in terms of system performance as well as reducing the overhead of moderating us... I think it is a win-win for everyone.

Great website! Have a question, I have RC and the BRS on my desktop but can only keep one open at a time - how do you keep them both current without using the back button?

I'm not 100% sure I know what you mean. I'm not sure why you 'can only keep one open at a time'. Do you mean on the screen at the same time? If so, you can resize your browser windows to keep them both on the screen at once, but depending upon what resolution you are using that might not work. I don't think that is what you meant though...

You can start your browser twice (use two separate windows). A better solution (in my opinion) would be to download MyIE2 if you are on a windows platform (or Firefox). Both of these browsers support "tabs" so you can have a bunch of different websites open simultaneously without cluttering up your desktop.

MyIE2 uses the standard Microsoft Internet Explorer and just adds a new interface to it so it is 100% compatible with everything that works with IE. Firefox is an open-source program put out by people that came out of the Netscape development community. Both are great and include a slew of very useful features besides the tabbed interface: pop-up blockers, auto-form fillers...

MyIE2: http://www.myie2.com/html_en/home.htm

Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Yeah that one was a little hard to explain-when I minimize a link and try to open another desktop link, it will overrun the current one. I asked my son to read your reply (he's the PC pro) and he used Mozilla Firefox and set it up so that I can open the new link in a new window. Thank you Joe for your help, it works great!

So why are people still here?

Transitions always take time, we tend to stick with what's more familiar, as long as people are still on this forum we'll be 'rubbernecking' back and forth:eek2: One day this week I was almost dizzy checking both websites trying to keep up with what's happening:rolleyes: Although the new website is fantastic and FAST compared to RC....

Right. But it does seem people ignore the stickies.
Note on this very thread one person discovered the new site.
