Does anybody know of a simple to use calcium test? I've been using the Tropic Marin test and it's a pain in the rear.

I think I saw a thread on that somewhere here lately. Do a search and see what comes up.

Think you maybe in trouble the standard ca method is a titration with a colormetric endpoint...the other methods out there call for super expensive instraments that cost around 50 grand...or more....Hopefully im wrong and there are some non color based titration methods out there...

I am severly color blind and have found that the Salifert calcium test works well for me. I had a LaMotte calcium test and couldn't use it. These are the only test kits that I have used.

I am not color blind, but the salifert changes from pink to blue. if that isn't a problem for you then salifert is a great Ca test kit. easy to use...

3mgl of tank water into test tube
6 drops of ca1
one spoon of ca2
then drop the regent till the colors change.
read how much is left in the syringe and look at the chart to see what your reading is

everything is included in the test kit that you will need.
