What is a good skimmer for a 90 gallon tank? I'm looking at the EuroReef CS6-1 or the Aqua C EV 120. The EuroReef is rated to 100 gallons and the Aqua C to 150 gallons. Does this include the water in yuor sump also? Would an Aqua C Urchin Pro be sufficient for a 90 gallon with a 20 gallon sump? Do they rate skimmers for the size tank or for total volume of water in system?
Thanks,
Jeff

All the skimmers you mentioned would be capable of handling your system, it just all really depends on what you are keeping in the tank. If it is going to be mostly sps dominated then I would recommend the EV120 or the CS6-1, since you will want a much lower nutrient level in the tank. If you are keeping mainly softs with just a couple fish then the Urchin Pro would probably work out for you. I personally would recommend going as big as what you can afford, to help alleviate extra costs in the future if you decide to upgrade.

I have a MR-1 on my 90 with 20g sump and think it's great. The other two skimmers you mentioned are also high quality skimmers and would be good.

I like the MR-1. Thanks, never even heard of them until now.

Have a euroreef CS6-1 in a 24 gallon sump on my 90. Works like a champ. Easy to install and maintain. Go Euroreef, you will not be disapointed.

Also on water volume. Remeber that rock, sand, take up alot of space. In my 90 I am only running about 78 gallons of water + the sump volume.

You migt want to check out ASM skimmers, same basic design as ER but a bit less expensive.
