Hey I have a 70 gallon and I'm running a wet/dry w/ bio balls and eufo reef es5-3 skimmer. I want to add a refuigum. Is that gonna conflict with my setup? In my refuigum that i want to build will have miracle mud, sand and algae.

I have 3 pipes running out from my tank. Around (1000 gal/hr)

(1) 1 inch bulk head with PVC pipes going into the wet/dry
(2) 3/4 tubing into the wet/dry

(But this is where I want to setup my refuigum. I want one the 3/4 tubing to go into another area (a 20 gallon Rubbermaid tub) and have mud/sand/algae in there and let that run into my wet/dry chamber that has my protein skimmer and pump back into my tank. My returns are (2) 1/2 PVC piping.

I haven't add any fish yet. I have 50lb of live fiji preminm rocks.

I haven't added any fish yet. I have 50lb of live Fiji premium rocks.

I want do like some live rocks and cuttlefish or octopus or jellyfish and shark egg.

Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated

Thanks

i'm not sure if you can still keep the wet/dry w/bio balls and have a refugium at the same time i could be wrong. i just have a sump/refugium with a protien skimmer.

octo's and cuttle fish and sharks are not for beginners........you will depending on species of shark 200 or more gals and good water quality, ocoto's are escape artist very hard to seal up everything cuttle fish don't know much about them probably hard to keep..........i would do some serious reading before attempting anyof them in your 70 gal tank............others will chime in and help you out some more happy reefing

Yeah I'm going to take out my bio balls and add another foam filter to replace it. Would it be a problem to run a refu with a skimmer?

on my 45 i do 10% bi weekly, my 20 gal seahorse tank about 5 gals every week my 90 15-20% weekly......once your tank cycles usually 6weeks or more or when all level are 0 then you can start your water changes and addling livestock

what kind of light should i use for my refu. I don't want to rack up my bills so a low watt light would be good. Can I just use any kind of tube lighting?
