Seems I have a crab I can not ID, it came in as a hitchiker with TBS. The picture should be clear enough. There is no hair on this crab at all. The crab is about the size of a quarter.

That is a spider crab. I saw them all the time when I lived in the FL Keys. They grow very large too. The biggest one I ever saw down there had a shell that was the size of a baseball not including its legs! I'd see if maybe the LFS will buy him from you. HTH

Hey Talonn,

I believe that might be a kind of decorator crab. I don't know if it is "reef safe." It might damage some sessile invertebrates.

Respectfully disagree;

I own a decorator crab and that looks nothing like it.

Unless there are different kinds.

I believe there are lots of different types of crabs that decorate themselves with stuff. He looks like one to me.

Are the ends of the claws spoon shaped? Hard to see in the pics.

If so, it might be a type of mythrax crab.
