I just put 20lbs of live sand in my tank today. There is no sandstorm since I cut the bag open in the tank. When I put my powerheads back on, the sand starts to blow around. Should I leave my powerheads off until my rock arrives tomorrow?

I don't think it'll make much difference one way or the other. Waiting a day will be fine, and might give you a bit smaller sandstorm.

HM. Where did you get your live sand from. How fine is it. Does it have any crushed coral in it? Try pointing your powerheads level with where they are positioned instead of down (if thats what they are pointing?). ALso what size tank do you have. You need to have 1lb of live sand per gallon of water.

I have a 29g and just added 20lbs of sand, it seems to be around 3 inches. The powerheads are pointing even, but sand is still blowing around. Should I leave the powerheads on?

What type of powerheads do you have? The gph number would be interesting. Do you have large pieces of sand moving? Or a "dust cloud"?

Just a dust cloud, I have two maxijet 600s

I personally would just run the powerheads. Either way will work, though. Sounds like a fine setup.

Its fine your filter should get rid of the dust storm :) . You need to add about 9 more lbs of sand though. Your supposed to have 1lb to every gallon.
