Eheim Pro II as Polishing filter...

... is this a good idea? have a spare Eheim Proffesional II and thought that instead of adding carbon and stuff like PhosBan to the Sump It could go in the Eheim with a whole bunch of filter floss.

Anyone else doing this, it's just everything is going smothly and I don't want to upset the ballance!

you may need to clean it often as it will in time turn into a bio filter and this may lead to a nitrate problem, Also there are a number of people who think any Mech filtration ona reef tank is a bad thing.

I used to run an ehiem but have installed a Tunze filter set as this is easier to clean and i can change one pod at a time for mech or chemical as the mood takes me.
