what sand?

Is it better to use crushed reef sand like the arogonite or should I use the fine white gravel sand (I think looks better) or a mixture of both?

I think you mean argonite sand or crushed coral. Go with argonite sand. It supports life better and provides calcium and buffers needed in your tank. Plus it is easier to keep clean IMO.
