yeah it's looking very nice. are you using a siphon to get the water down to your sump?

Yeah, my wife actually likes it now that it is up and running.
Is that just some kind of tube anemone (in the gallery)? It's not
aip. is it?

I painted the pipes black in the kitchen. You can barely see them when watching from the living room. I need a mag 12 for the return though (never calcualted head loss duh). I had to shut
down the line to the sump a bit to account for the return loss.
I'm going to AA after the meeting tomorrow for some supplies and
critters.

I was afraid of that. Guess my wife won't be naming it:uzi:

I've used a lobster pick on mine. I grind 'em outta the hole. Any remaining tidbits I assume the crabs or pepp shrimp eat. I've only had 1-2 at a time. I never let it get to be a problem

Anyone see if AA had any peppermints? I didn't see any on the
last order.

They had some when I was there on Sunday. They also have a fire shrimp the size of my daughter's forearm! Not that that helps, but damn!

Just some observations:
Is the drain underwater? And if so what are you doing for surface skimming?
Have you tested that your sump can hold all of the water if your pump shuts off? IE a Max fill line on the sump..?

Nice black PVC, I like the look

Looks good. I do have a question though after looking at your sump. With a design like this, it looks like you either need auto top off or you need to stay right on top of adding water. Where your return Mag pump is looks like it holdsonlu a few gallons. If the water drops by 2-3 gallons the pump might run dry. Am I seeing this correct? Also, are the baffles backward?

Not trying to pick on you. Just want to help you or help me understand it better. :)

I have been concerned about evaporation, but as of right now,
because of inefficient lighting (lack of heat) and fairly closed in
system (top is covered and good portion of fuge covered due to
all the animal hair in my house) it has not bee a problem. The
second piece of glass from left I cut short by accident, it is one
inch off the bottom, seems to work ok. Is that what you meant by
backwards?

Sorry I missed one question there. The drain is under water and
yes I have tested for flooding in the sump (that was the only
volume equation I performed while building the sump. Worse case
scenario is the gallons of water pumped over top of display tank
if the drain screen were to clog for some reason.
Thanks for the input guys. I feel like I have gotten somewhere now. I know I know. A long road ahead.....

looks more like a toadstool rather than a mushroom.
if you go pick up pep. shimps, get a few. they do better at eating aptasia in groups rather than alone.

Thanx for the correction for the label Scott. Saw you at AA yesterday. I have to go back today, he forgot to grab my peppermints.
