Anyone know he carries these locally?

I looked in the past but didn't find anyone locally carrying them. Drs Foster Smith has the 1/4 hp drop-in w/controller on sale for $609.99 and I'm really thinking of jumping on the deal considering most places want over $700 without the controller.

I still don't know if 1/4 HP would be enough in a 220G (total water) system or if I would need a 1/2 HP unit. Does anyone know?

eddiem . . . I picked up a nice 1/3 HP drop in Chiller USED locally. Keep an eye out on the used equipment .. there is bound to be one for sale.

Better to go bigger IMO. When I bought my A/C for my house I was told that buying the larger size would save me in the long run. The smaller unit would be working harder & longer to do the same job. (of course you could ice skate in my house)
Sorta like a 2 cyl car on the expressway, it will go 70, just don't try to do that all the time

I'm going to find out how long the sale is for and in the meantime see if I can find one cheaper locally (used or new).

I might end up going with a 1/3 HP since they're also on sale and only $40 more.

Not sure if you were serious about a group buy or not but considering these things weight over 50 lbs, I wouldn't want to be the one receiving them. :D

We are prepared to purchase a chiller this Spring and would like to see BRS Sponsors respond, if interested.

Nope. We just decided recently to make this purchase and haven't yet begun research.

Just wanted to indicate our interest if a GB is initiated.

Same here. I might be able to sell a part of my system off this summer, and have extra money for a chiller. I also just wanted to express general interest ina group buy,

Is the remote controller included with this? Single or dual?
Do you not need it or buying a bigger model?
Thanx

No controller, I used it with my Octopus 3000 controller
I thinking of getting a bigger one.

I'm just trying to figure if this will be big enough...180g tank...60-100g sump...would be close to the high side
I'm thinking I may be better off with a 1/2 hp....just in case

I would be interested in a group buy if the price from one of the lfs' was comparable.

I'm not sure what brand, type, and size everyone is looking for. Personally I'm looking for a 1/3 or 1/4 preferable Drop-In. Brand not really important but I do like Aqua Logic.

Aquanetics and Custom Sea Life are no longer in business so that eliminates them two but a few other brands to consider are: Aqua Medic, Pacific Coast, West Coast Aquatics, and Frits-Teclima.

Fritz-Teclima seem to be really expensive. Don't know much about Pacific Coast but their prices seem to be very reasonable. Aqua Medic and West Coast Aquatics seem to be very similar.

Of these brands, I know Inland Reef carries Aqua Medic and Fritz-Teclima....and CRA carries Aqua Medic. I don't know anyone locally who carries any of the other brands.
