Scott,
Are you the one who provided this to them?
I wouldn't be suprised if they photoshop a lot of their pictures. I actually emailed them a week ago about this and they said (and I'm paraphrasing) "...we never adjust the pictures in photoshop!"
Wow, could have fooled me...

I'd rather have this in my tank for free:
http://www1.coe.neu.edu/~mlitman/Tank Photos/Montipora digitada (orange).jpg

Than one inch that may very well turn brown and take years to grow for $219.

I know M. digitada is as common as dirt, but it sure grows nicely,

Shoped or not That frag does not look too healthy!
As far as the price goes ...so what? I'm a firm beliver in the american way (as long as you are not scaming people) in this case I'm not sure where the tyree waiting list is?... but say it a year. and the going rate is $100 Some people might think it's worth an extra c note not to wait in line. Hell a years growth may even get you that c back!

It's not the price that offends me (that just slays me)... but the fact that they're charging that much for a spec of a coral because Tyree's name is attached. It's a solid purple coral, for goodness sakes... it isn't bright gold with polyps of 7 different colors (though it could be with one more swipe through the Shop). That same coral could have been just as deep, pure purple, and come from any of our tanks and we'd be lucky to get $10 at a swap for a frag that size. This was a coral someone bought from Tyree... grew out, and sold to another person who is chopping, fragging and making a mint because Tyree imported it. Now... how much will frags of these frags be 'worth' in a few years? Less because they'd become '3rd generation' Tyree corals? Give me a break.

I don't think RM is scamming anyone. I think people are scamming themselves.

Marco -

Bring me a frag of each of those and I'll hook you up with "bec's shagg-cro" .. selling eslewhere for $2k and up; plus any other of my top picks. Seriously.. your frag is encrusted and waiting.

Gimme one-a-doze!

I just don't really think it's a very nice looking coral. I don't understand what the fuss is.

Is there something I'm missing? Could someone explain, in all seriousness, why this is so expensive? I've seen other purple acros sold at a fraction of this....

Their website says they use 20k Radiums plus actinics, but I'm not sure I can believe the color of those photos, though. Hey, but they say they don't doctor their photos.... whatcha gonna do?
